You’ve probably heard the saying that sometimes it’s good for a person to sit down for a while and wait for their soul to “catch up”. Today’s world is so hectic, and you’re in it, that you often don’t realise that your soul just can’t keep up with all the action. But just like the body, the soul deserves maintenance and recharging, because it is easy to slip into depression, panic disorder or some specific, organic illness. If you notice any of these in yourself or your lover, girlfriend or loved one, it’s time to turn on the alarm. And to relax, loosen up, slow down.
Tired by day, nervous by night
If your head is pounding on the table during the day, you’re so sleepy, you’re just dying to get a good night’s sleep, but then at night you toss and turn sleeplessly, or have dreams so wild they just freak you out even more, then your mind is overwrought. One of the most important signs of mental exhaustion is the inability to relax, to fully unwind.
Unwarranted malaise
They’re not gross, but they still make you feel sick. Mild dizziness, headaches, stomach cramps, muscle aches, or even tight muscles (especially in the neck) – your body is trying to tell you that your soul is not well, “not feeling well.” Of course, if a symptom persists, you should definitely get it checked out by a doctor, but if you don’t have any organ problems, it’s psychological.
You don’t even know how you are
If someone asks you what’s wrong, or is worried about you (say they see you’re exhausted all the time), you simply don’t know the answer. You feel “confused” inside, out of balance, out of harmony, but you can’t grasp the problem, you don’t understand what’s wrong with you.
You’re not on solid ground
Now take this literally. You’re going for it, you’re stumbling, everything is out of control, you’re forgetful and disoriented. Your body and soul are out of sync, that’s what makes you such a stutterer.
You are hypersensitive
It’s as if suddenly your whole life has become one continuous premenstrual syndrome. You get emotional about everything, you can cry at a laundry detergent commercial, sometimes you feel overwhelmed by overwhelming emotions, other times you collapse into yourself and don’t care about anything.
Panic and anxiety
If you are experiencing mild panic attacks and anxiety symptoms – heavy breathing, pounding heartbeat, diarrhoea, dizziness, feeling ‘alienated’ from the world, intense fear without reason, sweating – you need to make changes immediately. These are the body’s warning signs, and if you don’t pay attention to them, you could be in serious trouble.
Loneliness
No matter how many people are around you, you somehow feel like a stranger to everyone. You feel lonely, you have no energy for human connection. You may be able to pretend, but in reality, inside, you have no interest in anyone.
Physical fatigue
You can tell the difference between good and bad physical fatigue because the former feels good, the latter doesn’t. If you feel exhausted by the slightest movement or activity, if you don’t enjoy sports, then your mind is tired, your inner energy is “drained” and your physicality has nothing to do with it.
