The end of the year is a good time to draw a line and take a cold hard look, as winter still catches up with us, at our successes and failures in 2021. It wasn’t a great year for many of us, if you count the medical crisis and all the stress the pandemic brought us.
Still, it’s never too late to make some changes in our lives to be happier and get away from all that monotony. But to do that, we need to work harder with ourselves and… reinvent ourselves. We’ve put together some ideas below that can help you do just that, starting tomorrow.
Relax more
Really, it’s easy to say, but know that it’s not as difficult as we think either. Relaxation can be achieved in many ways, and it doesn’t just mean an evening walk or a book read on the sofa. Find a hobby. You can paint, even if you have no talent. Do yoga, pick up a guitar, write a short story.
Creativity exists in all of us, we just need to find a way to let it out. And, if you take this path, it’s a first step towards reinventing yourself and you’ll definitely learn new things about yourself. Beyond that, you’ll find new ways to express yourself.
Make your life easier
Time is the most precious resource when you want to change your way of being and enjoy life more. A good idea is to invest in anything that gives you the opportunity to make more time for yourself. Get a virtual assistant to help you with monotonous tasks, shop online, buy ready-made food.
If you don’t have a car, get a smart, electric one – it’s ideal for the city and easy to maintain. Find new cars that meet these criteria at established dealers. Make your home smart with modern gadgets like a robot vacuum cleaner.
Get out of your comfort zone
Most of the time, we get bored and feel stuck in a monotonous life when we only do what we know we like day after day. Too much comfort, and here I’m talking more about the mental, can have this monotonous effect. Do things that you are not used to and that you used to shy away from.
Tell jokes at parties if you’re more shy, dine alone in restaurants, wear a different kind of underwear than usual. If you give yourself challenges, even easy ones, you’ll start to gain confidence.
Change your daily routine
Life isn’t all work, and if you’re only dividing your time between the office and home, with occasional visits to the shops and the beauty salon, it’s safe to say you’re on autopilot. That’s what happens when you’ve planned your day in detail and don’t allow yourself any deviations.
It doesn’t hurt to have a bit of order in our lives, but too much can lead to monotony and boredom. Leave things to their own devices, change your schedule or simply stop making plans.
Volunteer
A good way to make a change in your life is to sign up for a volunteer programme. It could be an animal shelter or you could work with children without families or even plant trees. It’s just important to choose a cause you believe in. It brings with it a sense of well-being and has a beneficial effect on your psyche.
Volunteering will force you to change your schedule, help y<ou meet new people, see new perspectives and at the same time get you out of the daily routine you have become accustomed to.
Change your diet
On the face of it, diet seems like a taboo subject on the one hand and a really small one on the other. But what we eat every day influences our moods without question, and combined with monotony, boredom and stress, the effect can be far greater than we like to admit.
A healthier diet, with meals at regular times and without excesses, can only have beneficial effects, both for our psyche and our physique. And health is one of the most important elements we can rely on when we want to reinvent ourselves.
Get rid of old stuff in the house
A new way of being and a new approach to life doesn’t sit well with the old, so it’s not a bad idea to get rid of the old stuff you’ve collected in your home over the years. Surely in your wardrobe you have clothes that no longer fit, shoes that have gone out of fashion, items that had their purpose years ago.
All of this just takes up space and, beyond that, complicates your life. Because they’re there, in your way, you come across them all the time and don’t dare recycle them or donate them to someone else who perhaps needs them more than you do.
